Project Overview
Due to it’s every increasing popularity Bristol Airport is undergoing near-constant expansion with Morgan Civil and Structural appointed to assist in the recent large check-in extension.
The overall project consisted of 3 smaller projects providing for a new exit door from the main airport Arrivals, a new extension and opening-up works for a major airline check-in area, and the repositioning of another major airlines check-in kiosks including the necessary coring through the existing slab for the new kiosk service holes.
Morgan Civil and Structural provided structural engineering design services for all three projects, with civil engineering design services on one.
New structural steelwork frames fixed back to the existing airport structure were proposed for the arrivals and check-in extension projects, with investigative works undertaken for the repositioning project.

All projects were designed in keeping with the existing structural systems, and to best minimise disruption to the airport and passengers, with a lot of the steelwork being constructed out-of-hours.
All projects are now complete and in full operation every day at the airport. Next time walking through the arrivals exit, be sure to look up at the structure.
