Project Overview
23 Brunswick Place is an existing office building located in the heart of Southampton.
An extensive refurbishment has improved the overall character and presence of the existing building by removing dated features and creating a more contemporary feel throughout. The addition of an extra storey to the building has provided nearly 1,500 sqm of net new office space and improvements to the basement allowed for the creation of a new welfare block.
To create a more appealing and active street frontage a ground floor glazed ribbon extension wraps around the existing pavement frontage with a vertical extension that runs the full height of the building sitting above the main entrance and creating a more defined entry.

Works included a full analysis of the existing structure to verify the capacity of the existing building to receive the additional storey. The additional storey at the roof level included a combination of utilising the existing roof slab and new steelwork to allow load to pass directly into the columns below.
The extension of the existing atrium ensured the natural light into the centre of the building was maintained.
