Project Overview
The Great House Farmhouse, situated in Little Sodbury, South Gloucestershire, is a Grade II Listed Building. This residential building was first constructed in the late 17C and is in the form of a typical H plan with three storeys and a cellar.
Although some remodelling was carried out during 19th and early 20th centuries major works were found to be required on the central open well staircase.
Morgan Civil and Structural carried out an intrusive structural survey of the Manor House, providing a detailed report with findings and recommendations.
Substantial movement was identified throughout the building in particular the main atrium staircase.
Working closely with the Conservation Officer to ensure that any new structural elements were concealed and did not detract from the original structural features of the staircase, MSL detailed an innovative bespoke solution harmoniously blending steel support into the original shallow timber form.
