Project Overview
Located in the up-and-coming Old Market area of Bristol, the Midland Road project took existing unused commercial land and created a new landmark building of 32 affordable apartments.
Existing building were demolished to make way for the new apartments, ranging from 1 and 2 bedroom flats to 3 bedroom maisonettes, across the 4 and 5 storey blocks. The buildings’ location and design maximised on sunlight reaching the large central courtyard garden, with internal natural light also being well considered in both communal areas and the dual aspect individual dwellings.

Cantilever balconies tied back to the concrete floors allow the balconies to protrude over the pavement below. This provides an outdoor space for the apartments.
The building had several neighbouring properties which produced a few challenges in ensuring neighbouring properties were protected by the construction works. This included duplication of party wall along one elevation.
